On graduation, she continued to perform with community groups and amateur orchestras before studying at Goldsmiths University on the Certificate of Music Workshop Skills course with Phil Mullen and Graham Dowdall. This opened her eyes to different world music styles, the art of community music and has expanded her musical knowledge and skills.

Cheryl currently teaches flute, clarinet, recorder and djembe (West African drum) for Kent Music (and previously for Wandsworth Music Services and Rhythmix in Brighton) whilst regularly leading workshops for all ages across the South East in London, Kent and East Sussex. She is keen to encourage older people to take part in music making and has leads workshops for the organisation Sing for Your Life, who run silver song clubs for older people.

As a flautist, Cheryl was a member of the London Philharmonic Open Ear Orchestra who performed at the re-opening of the Royal Festival Hall in June 2007, The Savoy for a charity function and with numerous amateur orchestras as well as playing in The Vanishing Elephant - a play about the history around Camden Road in Tunbridge Wells. She is also a keen drummer, regularly playing with local samba band Bloco Fogo. Cheryl taught herself the flute at the age of 14 after hearing a performance of the virtuosic ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’ by Rimsky-Korsakov. Two years later she started flute lessons and reached grade 8 within another two years. She studied Music and Music Technology at Keele University where she was a member of Keele Philharmonic Orchestra for three years touring Ireland, France and Austria.
